We’ve been out in the beautiful surroundings of the Belgian Ardennes, and stayed in a cozy cottage on the hillside there. Completed by a view straight out of a renaissance painting.

But we didn’t get to spend much time in the house, we spent all our days in an old chapel, recording our debut album. Working from early morning to the dead of night.

The first day was spent in search for the best sound in the old building, for each of our instruments. Once we got that, we started the next day with the first song : “Scarlet Liege” (a song with lyrics based in the Middle Ages) which fit our setting perfectly.

The last song was recorded on the fifth day and that, ofcourse, had to be the loudest, to end our great week with : “Millionaire”.

And we did what we came to do; we laid down all 12 the tracks for the upcoming album, playing them live in the ancient chapel until we felt we had captured a magic take of every single one. And in our humble opinion, we believe we did. And it’ll soon be yours to hear, the album is due in the beginning of 2011.

Appelpop was a blast!

With adrenaline still rushing through our veins, we went into the rehearsal space, to work on our debut album. We wrote a new song and worked on the material that’s gonna be on the record.

We’re going to a mysterious Belgian studio next month. It’s in an old chapel hidden in the forest. A perfect atmosphere for The Stags and the Guild are looking forward to recording for 5 days in such a beautiful place! It’s just the four of us with our house-engineer Roel Verberk, who already worked with us on some demos. Some of you might have seen the ‘running through the woods’ teaser video for What Do You Know on youtube.

Alright, time to head into the woods. We think you’re going to love what we come back with.
